“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'”

Matthew 19:14

During every weekend service, we are committed to providing a safe, age-appropriate place for your kids to get familiar with God and His word in a way that makes sense. We inject plenty of fun, rockin’ worship and some epic dance moves for good measure.

Student Ministry for Middle and High School Students

Our goal is to come along side middle and high schoolers to help foster a deep relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to make their faith their own and become young adults who continue to follow Him after graduation. Depending on your source, research tells us that 66-80% of teenagers who attend church for at least a year in high school stop following God or attending church in young adulthood. We want to change this.

We currently offer two opportunities for middle and high school students to meet with each other. Every Thursday night, we meet for dinner in Copley at 6 PM. And on Sunday morning, we gather for a bible study before service at 9 AM, followed by attending service together. For more information, click the button below.

New in 2022! Our Student Ministry Thursday dinner group will start a new rotation of events! As a ministry we value hospitality, community, and service so beginning in January 2022, we will gather the first Thursday of the month of each month for a service project, the middle Thursdays for our regular dinner, and the last Thursday will be a special outing or event. Dinner will still be provided at all gatherings! For more information, visit the Connect Table or email Mo at students@gardencityakron.com.

Garden City Student Ministry is led by Morgan “Mo” Mikoda. She writes, “This role excites me because I love working with young adults, and I see a great need for it here at Garden City and in the Church as a whole. I love walking alongside young adults as they begin to make their faith their own and ask some of the deeper questions about their faith. I see this as something that aligns with God’s heart as Jesus ran a youth ministry with all of his disciples (besides Peter) being under the age of 20. I am deeply saddened by the statistics that show us 80% of children who attend at least one year of church will stop following Him when they turn 18. I want to contribute to God’s Kingdom by building disciples who truly know, love, and follow God beyond their childhood.”

Mo loves her family – immediate and extended. Her parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew all live locally, which fills her heart with so much joy. Hospitality is a core desire of Mo’s heart. She loves to open her home to all people. She can often be found cooking and eating, playing board games, watching movies or TV, playing music, or playing Nintendo with friends and family. Would you believe food and quality time are her love languages?!

Mo works full-time as an occupational therapist at Altman Home Care. She currently resides here in Akron with her rescue dog, Luna Bean. Want to know more? You can find Mo in the conference room behind the sanctuary every Sunday morning at 9 AM for Bible Study, or at Wednesday night dinner at 6 PM. She can’t wait to meet you!
